A Master would also be expected to give instruction to others, be knowledgable about the finer points of the art, and may take on apprentices. A Master should be able to write a short article on a relevant topic if desired.
This rank is never awarded to brand new members; however, those who join us who are worthy of this rank will find their time in grade very short indeed.
A taste-test by other members of the guild and the Guildmistress is usually part of the test for Master status. However, if circumstances do not permit this, something else might be arranged.
"Guildmaster" or "Guildmistress" is not so much a rank but a position. The head of the guild need not be the highest ranking member, but should be at least of Master rank. There are other positions in the guild, that those of at least Journeyman rank may serve in. Interested members should contact the guildmistress. The current Guildmistress is also the founder of the guild. In the event of her retirement or death, the "Guild Second" will take over as Guildmaster. The "Guild Second" is picked by the Guildmistress, her 'right-hand' person and trusted representative, and must be of at least Master rank. The "Guild Second" places the interests of the guild and the further advancement of the art of brewing above all other petty matters, and may in private question the decisions of the Guildmistress (always respectfully of course).
A Master can be in brewing, bartending, or both. If only in bartending, then termed "Master Bartender". If only in brewing, then "Master Brewer". One who has mastered both is simply "Master".
